Some pens are so cleverly designed that it takes a moment to appreciate just how clever they really are. The LAMY Swift is one of them.

At first glance, the Swift is a simple retractable rollerball pen with a fun trick: when you push the button to extend the tip, the clip retracts into the barrel and becomes flush with the rest of the pen. It's fun to watch and solves the small annoyance of having to hold the pen so that the clip doesn't rub against your hand, but it serves a more important role as well. It means that the tip can't extend when the pen is clipped to your pocket. And that means never having to worry about an ink-stained shirt ever again.
